Bernard Michael Beck II, 68, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Piedmont Henry Hospital Stockbridge, Ga. A veteran of Vietnam, who served his country faithfully with the United States Navy. He was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Star, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal as well as an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea). Bernard M. Beck II, was born in Great Lakes, Illinois to Priscilla M. and William Charles Beck September 11, 1949. In December 1967, he joined the armed forces and was assigned to the Naval base camp in Great Lakes, Illinois. After graduating from NTC Great Lakes, Illinois he was assigned to NAS Barbers Pt. Hawaii as NTT Personnel and reported to duty aboard the USS Kittyhawk CVA-63. In 1969 Bernard” Mike” Beck, was released to inactive duty with Honorable character of service. Mike was a brave and loyal soldier, as well as a patient and loving father. He married Myrna Louise Reno in March 1979. Mike loved cars. He was a skilled mechanic which he passed down his knowledge to his kids. Mike also loved traveling. His favorite song was The Traveling Man. Most of all, Mike loved spending time with kids and grandkids. Mike also loved fishing and was our biggest food critic! He is survived by a brother Gregory Paul Beck and his wife Helen of Texas, his sons, Bernard Michael Beck III and his wife Stephanie Beck of McDonough, Ga., Kenneth William Beck and his wife Nicole Beck of Rincon, Ga, two daughters Kira Louise Beene and her husband Leonard Beene of Tecumseh, Ok and Bonnie Michele Williams and husband Robert Williams of Shawnee, OK. 7 grandchildren, Billy, Heather, Jimmy, Ben, Catie, Coby and Owen as well as 3 great children, Bryton, Breelyn and Waylon. He is preceded in death by his wife, Myrna, and his son “Billy Jo” who died in infancy. The visitation will take place from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. following by the funeral service at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910. Mr. Beck will be buried along with his wife, Myrna at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Veterans Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
