Bernard "Curly" Lamar Cope

Bernard (Curly) Lamar Cope, 75, passed away Friday, January 29, 2010 at his home in Grays, SC.He was born July 1, 1934 in Ridgeland, SC to the late Walter Lee and Viola Smith Cope.He was retired US Air Force having served in the Philippines, Okinawa, Turkey, Spain, Minot, ND and the Pentagon. After retiring from USAF, he was associated with Palmetto Electric Cooperative for 22 years. He attended Spartanburg Methodist College and he was a deacon and member of Pine Level Baptist Church.He is survived by his wife, Hazel Smith Cope; son, David L. (Julie) Cope; daughter, Lori (Darin) Crosby, all of Grays, SC; brother, Robert L. (Dot) Cope of Beaufort, SC; grandchildren, Colby Crosby, Dylan Crosby, Shelby Crosby, Morgan Beach, Rachel Cope and Leslee Cope. He was preceded in death by siblings, Irene Burgener, Lee Cope, Clyde Cope, Hattie Morgan, James Cope and Annie Lou Connelly.Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm, Monday, February 1, 2010 at Pine Level Baptist Church, 2009 Pine Level Church Road, Early Branch, SC with burial in Grimes Cemetery.
