Bessie Mae Knight Martin

Bessie Mae Knight Martin, 99, originally from Atmore, Alabama, via Hilton Head Island, SC., passed away on Monday, September 26, 2016 at Life Care Center, Hilton Head Island, SC.

The visitation and celebration scheduled for Saturday, October 8, 2016 has been postponed due to weather conditions. Rescheduled arrangements are visitation from 12:00 - 1:00 PM and celebration at 1:00 PM. All will be held at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton on October 15, 2016.

She was born November 13, 1916 in Monroeville, Alabama to the late Henry Lincoln Knight and Annie Elizabeth Clausell Knight. She was one of the oldest, active, and devoted members of Greater MT. Triumph Missionary Baptist Church of Atmore, Alabama for over 71 years and singing in the Gospel Choir for over 64 years. Surviving is one daughter, Cynthia Sutton (Bill) of Bluffton, SC., Three grandchildren; Eric Collins (Cheryl) of Chicago, IL., Patrick Collins of Indianapolis, IN., and Keely White (Etoya) of Stockbridge, GA., Ten great grandchildren; Sean Collins, Brianna Collins, Peter Collins, Nena Brown, Kala Sutton, Amari Hurn, Nasir White, Elyssa White, CJ White and Olivia White. She was preceded in death by one brother, Lloyd Knight, her parents, one niece, Carol Jones, her husband, James Martin, one sister, Ruby Helen Jones, one granddaughter, Cynthia Beth Collins and oldest daughter, Marva Nettles Collins of Hilton Head Island, SC.
