Bette Hennen Weldon

June 21, 1930 — December 14, 2016

The Lord peacefully took Bette to Heaven on December 14, 2016. She was born in the Chicago area, on June 21, 1930 to the late Garfield and Margaret Hennen along with three other siblings. She married her high school sweetheart, James George Weldon on May 27, 1950 and remained married until James lost his battle to cancer, 1n 1999. Being a loving wife and mother became her priority as she let her two years of college taken a step behind. Later as her children were in college, Bette joined her daughter and graduated from Rockford College with a business administration degree. It was an amazing feat watching her juggle all her responsibilities and commitments to her family, friends, and business associates. Bette was an extremely accomplished executive with Warner Lambert (now Pfizer) Countless projects she undertook with such success, that she was constantly receiving accolades and recognition for a job well done. During this time, she also taught business classes as well as chaired investment and interstate trafficking groups. Bette was a lifelong learner. Her love for the outdoors and the floral aspects of nature, she pursued the Master Gardener certificate. She loved crafting! She and her daughter would constantly find creative things to make. She was an accomplished duplicate bridge player and continued this passion with her friends at Moss Creek. She was a golfer – she got a hole-in-one at the Moss Creek South Course (even though it hit a tree before it went in. As a highly intelligent and loving woman, Bette will surely be missed by all that she knew. Many friends and acquaintances will morn her loss, but not as much as her loving family. Bette is survived by her three children: Barbara Weldon Silver of Hilton Head, James Weldon of Westerville, Ohio and Robert Weldon of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She adored her surviving grandchildren: Maggie Silver, Kara Weldon, Kim Weyer, Patricia Weldon, Tara Weldon, and Ryan Weldon. She absolutely adored her two great grandchildren, Olivia and Taylor Weyer. A memorial service, arranged by Sauls Funeral Home will be held at the Church of the Cross, Calhoun Street on Saturday, January 7 at 12:00 pm.
