Betty Sue (Dickey) Tibbs

May 2, 1933 — July 16, 2021

Betty Sue Dickey Tibbs, age 88, of Hardeevile, SC, entered her Heavenly home on the morning of July 16, 2021.

Betty was born in Oldsmar, Florida, on May 2, 1933 to the late Noa Lee Dickey and Susie Claire Bonnell Dickey. She married the love her life, the late Kenneth Laymon Tibbs, on August 1, 1952, in Savannah, Georgia, shortly after falling in love. Betty and Ken settled in Hardeeville, SC following Ken’s service in the U.S. Air Force.

Betty spent her adult life devoted to missions, serving in any capacity she could. She had a servants heart and attitude, and wanted to make sure that everyone knew about Jesus. She saw a need beyond the four walls of a church, and was willing to go places to share His love where others had previously not been willing to go. Betty was equally as compassionate about being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a Biblical mentor to many, and her love for Jesus shown through in her love for others.

Betty is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Tibbs Walters (Terry) and Lisa Tibbs Blankenship (Jeff); grandchildren, Jeremy Walters (Courtney), Jennifer Walters; Stephanie Malphrus Vincent (Paul) and Caleb Malphrus; Charlie Blankenship and Luke Blankenship; three great grandchildren, Asher Vincent and Arden Vincent; and Sawyer Malphrus; and brother Dale R. Dickey (Lynn).

Betty was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Laymon Tibbs, and brother, William H. Dickey.

The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00pm, Sunday, July 18, 2021 at Maye River Baptist Church, until the hour of service at 3:00pm. Burial will follow at Maye River Bapist Church cemetery.
