Betty Jane Hemelrick, 66 of Hardeeville, South Carolina, passed with peace and grace on January 15, with her family at her side.
The funeral service will be held at Friendship Community Church 1090 Weirich Ave. Washington PA. 15301, on a date and time yet to be determined. Pastor Rick Bruckner will be officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville, PA 15017 at a date and time yet to be determined. Correspondence about funeral and burial arrangements will be dispersed once dates and times are finalized.
Betty was born in Canton, Ohio on September 18, 1951. She graduated from McGuffey High School and continued on to serve her country for a short time in the United States Navy. She had many talents and in her words “was a jack of all trades, master of none”.
Betty was married to James Francis Hemelrick on September 17, 1972; they were married 45 wonderful years.
Betty’s favorite position of employment was when she worked as a chef for Walt Disney World’s Dixie Landings Resort. She enjoyed bingo, scratch off lottery tickets, gardening and spending time with her family.
Betty is survived by her husband James; brothers, David and Wells (Peebles); son, Christopher; daughter, Catherine (Bushnell); step-daughters, Brenda (Hanning)and Jo Ann (Hemelrick) and step-sons, James, Jay, and Jan; grandchildren, Yasmin, Victoria (Hansen), Audra and Derek (Baumgardner) and Abigail and Collin (Bushnell), and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren many loving nieces and nephews.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents Wells and Katherine Peebles; and her sister Patricia.
