Betty L. Hoer, 83, of The Cypress in Hilton Head, South Carolina, died unexpectedly on Dec. 15, 2007 at her home.Mrs. Hoer was born in her home on the family farm in Wellsville, Missouri on December 8, 1924, daughter of Harry Lee Momberger and Nellie Candace May. She was the beloved wife, for 61 years, of Robert H. Hoer who died in December of 2005.She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother dedicating her life to her family. She was an expert seamstress sewing clothing for herself and her four daughters. She enjoyed crafts, quilting, and loved to travel. She also was an avid reader, often finishing two books in a week. She was known for her sense of style, and the beauty of her smile and her heart.After retirement, Bob and Betty relocated to Port Royal Plantation on Hilton Head in 1980. While living there, Betty was an active volunteer for the Bargain Box, Mental Health, and Hospice. They moved to Brevard, NC in 1996. Betty had recently relocated back to Hilton Head in August of 2007.She is survived by her children, Susan Elise (Karl) Barry of Paxton, MA; Janice Herr of Chicago, IL; Beth Herr (Ralph Szur) of Carmel, NY; Michael Hoer (Diane Booth) of Old Tappan, NJ; Jane Tennant (Steve) of Bluffton, SC, and Dr. James Hoer (Nancy) of Arden, NC; and twelve grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Mrs. Marian (Del) Stevenson of Wellsville, Mo. and Mrs. Jean Hopper of Virginia Beach, Va.A celebration of Betty
