Betty Latini

December 10, 1926 — July 7, 2012

Betty Latini, 86 years of age died on July 7, 2012 at 2:15 p m. She is survived by her husband, Henry and their three daughters: Mary Celeste of El Paso, Texas, Lisa Ann (Mrs. David) Kirkendall, of Seattle, Wa., and Monica Louise (Mrs. Alan) King of Kalaheo, Hawaii. The Latinis have three grandsons:Joseph Kirkendall, Andrew King and Maximilian King. Mrs. Latini worked for herself as a shopowner. She owned and operated the Village Melange, a gift and antique shop in the Broadripple area of Indianapolis, IN. During her residence in Cape Elizabeth, ME, she owned and operated the Blueberry Scoop on Oak Street. At this point in her career, Mrs. Latini became an expert in Portland Glass. The Latinis relocated to Hawaii in 1983 and purchased a home on the Honolulu Gold Coast. Betty entered the real estate and stock markets as an investor. Early in 2000 she retired from her investment activities and moved to Poipu Kai on Kauai with her husband. They resided there until 2006. At that point Betty relocated to her current residence in Okatie, SC. Betty's love for music was evidenced by her participation in a number of church and civic choirs. These included those at St. Bartholomew's Church in Cape Elizabeth, ME, the Portland City Christmas Choir, and the choir at St. Augustine's Church in Waikiki Beach, HI. For many years Betty supported both the Honolulu Symphony and the Honolulu Opera. Surely, she will lend her fine alto voice to the Choir of Angels at her newest address.The funeral mass will be held at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Road, Bluffton at 11:00 am, Friday, July 13, 2012.
