Bluffton, South Carolina – After a two plus year struggle with ALS, Beverly passed peacefully. She was born March 23, 1936, in Bangor, ME to parents Harold and Wilda Day. She was preceded in death by her parents and her oldest son Peter. She is survived by her husband of almost 67 years, Robert Herzog, her sister, Roberta Witt (Tom) of Summerfield, FL, her two sons, David Herzog (Barbara) of McCormick, SC, and Scott Herzog (Cindy) of Sanford, FL, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
After graduating from Bangor High in 1954, Beverly started her career in banking as a teller in a local bank. In June of 1956, she married her high school sweetheart, Bob Herzog, and they started married life In Connecticut where they would live for the next forty plus years. In 1997, they decided to retire to the warm south and chose Sun City as the best place.
Bev was very active with the duplicate bridge club and with a small Mah-Jongg group. She was a lover of the opera and actively followed the “HD Live at the Met” series. She and Bob played a lot of golf on the Sun City courses. Beverly was also a prodigious walker. In the early years, she, Bob and their three sons did a substantial amount backpacking in the mountains of New England. In Sun City, she was known to walk 6 to 10 miles a day, 5 days a week.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Saul’s Funeral Home, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to one of the following: Metropolitan Opera Fund, The Nature Conservancy, or Hospice Care of the Low Country.
