Beverly Gail Hodge, 71, of Bluffton, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on February 7, 2026.
Born to the late Russell Gerald Hilf and Dorothy Elaine Murray Hilf, Beverly lived a life marked by independence, talent, and a deep love for the outdoors.
Beverly was an avid golfer, a skilled deer hunter, and a gifted natural taxidermist. Her artistry earned numerous awards, with beautifully preserved otters, fish, and deer among her proudest accomplishments. Taxidermy was more than a hobby—it was her passion—until she was no longer able to continue due to congestive heart failure.
She generously shared her love of hunting with others, including her nephew Brian. Together, they supported Outdoors Without Limits (OWL), helping raise funds to provide outdoor opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
Beverly and her husband faithfully served as caretakers of Savage Island in Bluffton for many years. She also worked for the Charleston School Bus System, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.
She is survived by her sisters, JoAnn Smith and Becky Hilf Nicholson; her brothers, Raymond Hilf (Donna) and Ronnie Hilf; and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Hilf.
Beverly will be remembered for her strength, her craftsmanship, and her enduring love of the outdoors. She leaves behind a legacy of resilience, generosity, and quiet determination that will not be forgotten.
