Beverly McFarland Simoneaux, age 94, of Bluffton, SC passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville, SC. Beverly was born in Clarkston, Michigan, where she lived until the age of 12 when her mother and father moved to Savannah, where they opened a successful ice cream business—Cheeseman’s. Beverly graduated from Savannah High School and Armstrong Junior College. She also attended the University of Georgia for one year. She married George Simoneaux on December 6, 1940 for a marriage that lasted 75 years. Beverly and George had three children, Nancy (Andy) Shearouse, Lee (June) and Patrick (Patti). They have five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren who loved her and will miss her greatly. Beverly managed the Sugar Refinery (Dixie Crystals) hotel for three years, then retired to raise their children, later to return to the Sugar Refinery for 14 years, where she retired in 1986. Beverly was talented in many areas. She was a great cook, made lots of quilts and afghans, and took up painting after she retired. She loved playing bridge and was a member of the bridge clubs in Port Wentworth and Bluffton. The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Port Wentworth, GA with burial following at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park-East. Remembrances may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 501 S. Coastal Hwy, Port Wentworth, GA 31407.
