Brenda Leigh Long

Brenda Leigh Long, 70, of Charlotte, NC began her new Heavenly life on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at the Pines at Hilton Head.

Brenda was born February 9, 1955 in Martinsville, VA to the late Jack Raymond Long and Charlotte Ann Steagall Long. Brenda loved helping and being around people, which led to her 41-year-long career in Aviation, as a flight attendant, flight attendant supervisor, and with Homeland Security for a short period of time after 9/11. Throughout the years, she worked with Piedmont Airlines, U.S. Air, U.S. Airways, and American Airlines. She greatly enjoyed her years traveling the world.

Her biggest joy was her nephew, Wesley, from the moment he was born. She would turn his Junior Golf tournaments into fun trips and they enjoyed Carolina Panthers games together. She loved him very much! When home, Brenda was very active and enjoyed running and walking long distances. She also served in the Prayer Ministry of her church, Myers Park United Methodist Church of Charlotte, NC. She also enjoyed spending time with her very best friends from her days at the airlines.

Brenda is survived by her brother, Robert W. Long (Sherri) of Bluffton, SC; nephew, Wesley Long (Morgan) of Washington, DC; her aunt, Carol Steagall of Burlington, NC; and many cousins.

A celebration of life will held at 2:00 pm, Monday, February 16, 2026 at Myers Park United Methodist Church, 1501 Queens Rd., Charlotte, NC 28207.
