Carie Ayn McKinley, 46, passed away on December 10th after a short battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her beloved family and close friends. Carie was born on November 8th, 1978. Growing up, Carie competed in numerous beauty pageants, winning on both local and regional levels. Carie attended Hilton Head High school from 1993-1997. After school, Carie worked in the hospitality industry, where she made many friends. Carie was blessed with four beautiful children and loved spending time with her family and friends.
Carie is survived by her children: Erika Rae Tobias (Eric), Jasmyn Marie Tobias, Tiffini Jean Tobias, and Joseph Keith Sigler, and grandchildren; Izaiah Levi Lozano, Zophia Elizabeth Lozano. She is also survived by her parents; father, Steve McKinley (Lea); mother, Sharon Horowitz (Lewis); grandmother, Betty Craig; brother, Dalton McKinley (Spenser); sister, Victoria Galvan; nieces, Laila, Lizzy, and Londyn; uncle, Dean Christian; and aunt, Susan McKinley.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at the Rotary Center, located at Oscar Frazier Park, on Saturday, January 25th, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. There will be light food and drinks. This will be an alcohol-free event. If you can, please wear or accent with something purple, as it was Carie’s favorite color. In leu of flowers, please make donations in Carie’s honor to Hospice of The Lowcountry.
