Carolyn Brubaker Carroll

Carolyn Brubaker Carroll, “Carol” of Lancaster, South Carolina, passed away on January 10, 2024 at Coastal Carolina Hospital after a short illness. She was the daughter of the late Thurman Devon Brubaker and Violet Flick Brubaker. She was born on May 17, 1938 in Kokomo, Indiana. Carol was a graduate of the University of South Carolina where she met her late husband, Thomas “Tommy” Beville Carroll, III. She was a housewife and mother to her three children after a brief teaching career in Charleston, South Carolina. She lived in Charleston until her husband graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina. Carol moved with him to Columbia and then Lancaster, South Carolina during his 32 years as a practicing radiologist. Carol is a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Lancaster. A supporter of the Carolina Gamecocks in both good times and bad, she and her husband were members of the Gamecock Club and scholarship donors. She was an active member of the volunteer auxiliary groups at the hospitals where her husband practiced throughout his career. She was instrumental in collecting medical samples and supplies for shipment to needy countries while living in Columbia, South Carolina. In Lancaster, she served in all leadership roles of the auxiliary group, but was most active as its treasurer. During her adult years, she created a number of treasured cross stitch pieces for the members of her family. In addition to her cross stitching, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, sports, reading, spending time with her family, fishing, gardening, and bird watching. She was a devoted and loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always made family events like holidays and birthdays extra special.

Carol is survived by her 3 children, Vickie Carroll Lambert (Marty), Sherry Lynne Carroll (John), and David Brubaker Carroll (Lisa), 8 grandchildren, Blake Carroll (Karen), Thomas Lambert, Megan Horton (Eric), Spencer Carroll (Taylor), Andrew Lambert (Melissa), Steven Carroll (Jenna), Matthew Lambert (Morgan), and Lindsay Carroll, and 8 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Sunday, January 14, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm in at Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton, South Carolina. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with burial will follow in Lowcountry Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lancaster County Animal Shelter (LSPCA) of Lancaster, South Carolina.
