Carolyn Hubbard Degler

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carolyn Hubbard Degler, beloved sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Carolyn, 89, of Ridgeland, South Carolina, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.  Carolyn was born on December 30,1934 to Mr. Francis and Hazel Hubbard in Hardeeville, South Carolina.

Carolyn was predeceased in death by her parents Francis and Hazel Hubbard, her sister Shirley Rahn, and her son Reggie Malphrus.  She is survived by her son Roy L. Prescott III (m. Becky); her sisters Evelyn Willard (m. Kent) and Jackie Harren; her grandchildren Roy L. Prescott IV (Jillian), Christa Prescott Socie (m. Doug), Jessica Malphrus Goodman (m. Josh), and Jamie Malphrus (m. Lauren); her great grandchildren Emma Jayne Prescott, Cameron Socie and Charlie Socie; lifelong friends Judy Malphrus and Pat Tillman.

Carolyn dedicated her life to her family, friends, and church.  She was a beautician for over 40 years operating “The Beauty Hut”. She thoroughly enjoyed her time with her clients, all of whom she considered more like friends.

Carolyn’s greatest accomplishment in life was her family, whom she loved unconditionally. She was a devoted mother, always putting her family first and ensuring they were taken care of in her own special way. Her life was filled with joy and love, especially when she was surrounded by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carolyn cherished every moment spent with them and loved creating memories that will be treasured forever.

In her free time, Carolyn enjoyed gardening, cooking delicious meals for her family, and traveling. She found peace and happiness in these simple pleasures and was always grateful for the time spent with her loved ones.

Carolyn will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
