Carolyn Davis Herndon

Carolyn Davis Herndon, 78 of Hilton Head Island and widow of John D. Herndon passed away peacefully at Hilton Head Hospital on the fourth of July surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents of Savannah, GA, Leon and Josephine Davis, her loving husband of Hilton Head Island, SC and her grandson, Jeremiah. She is survived by her two daughters, Deborah Martin of Hilton Head Island and Donna (Rodolfo) Sagahon of Hilton Head Island; her stepchildren, Fran Mollica, Robin Carney and John Gary Herndon; three sisters, Miriam (Don) Ratcliff of Jackson, SC, Vivian (Dub) Holt of Savannah, GA, June (Audrey) Hunley of Wrens, GA and one brother, Kenneth (Anita) Davis of Pooler, GA. Carolyn had ten grandchildren, David, Chris, Timmy, Peggy, Dustin, Paul, Jamie, Josh, Logan and Mary; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was born in Wrens, GA where she attended school and graduated top in her class. She was a member of the Beta Club. She and her husband built and owned Carolyn's Landscaping and Nursery for almost 20 years. It was a family business and people still talk about her sitting on her cooler directing her workmen who were with the company form the beginning until the business was sold. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland, SC with burial in Ridgeland Cemetery.
