Charles Varnie Cooler, Sr.

Charles Varnie Cooler, Sr., 82, passed away Monday, October 31, 2011 at his home in Hardeeville, SC.Charles was born in Hardeeville, SC on May 12, 1929 to the late Owen Dollie Cooler and Florrie Mae Cooler. He was a retired Machinist for Union Camp Corp with 40 years of service; a graduate of Hardeeville High School; a life long member of Red Dam Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Sunday School teacher, Music Director, Youth Director and was an active member of the Brotherhood. He was a US Airforce Veteran having served in World War II. He loved his family, his church and his home in Red Dam. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing and was an avid Gamecocks fan.He is survived by his son Charles V. (Melba) Cooler, Jr. of Hardeeville, SC; daughters, Carolyn (Mike) Hubbard of Vance, SC; Nancy C. Harper of Hardeeville, SC; two brothers, Harold (Joyce) Cooler and Brad (Debbie) Cooler, all of Hardeeville, SC; sister in law, Idell Cooler of Hardeeville, SC; grandchildren, Michael (Jennifer) Hubbard and Kristy Harper; great grandchildren, Jamie and Rebecca Hubbard. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Wall Cooler; brothers, Louis, Warren and Edward Cooler and his son in law, Larry Harper.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Red Dam Baptist Church in Hardeeville with burial in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6 til 8 pm, Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland, SC.
