Charles M. Hinson "Chuck" passed away peacefully on October 9, 2024, at Coastal Carolina Hospital after a debilitating illness. He was born in Ottumwa, Iowa on February 8, 1940, the third child of Dr. Clifford and Alice Irene Hinson. He graduated from Ottumwa high school in 1958. He later earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa and went on to Drake University where he earned his master's degree.
Chuck met his future wife, Dorothy Bennett, from a mutual friend and they went on to marry in 1964. Shortly after, he began his career as a biological sciences instructor at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa. He went on to spend 35 years there and was beloved by numerous students for his dedication and passion to the sciences. He was also an integral part of Campus Bible Fellowship, a weekly student bible study. As an avid hunter and fisherman, he spent countless hours canvassing the Iowa terrain for pheasants and enjoyed fishing for years in northern Minnesota.
Chuck and Dottie moved from Iowa to Sun City Hilton Head in 2010. It was there that he enjoyed golfing, swimming, and his strong bond with Community Bible Church. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was unashamed to talk to others about him.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Dottie, and sons Chris (Kim) and Mark (Vicki). He also had five grandchildren: Kendall (Chris and Kim) and Alec, Sam, Chase, and Brooks (Mark and Vicki). Known for his kind spirit and love for people, he will be greatly missed.
