Charles Mitchell Lowther Jr., 95 of Ridgeland passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015 at his home.
He was born in Ridgeland, SC on January 3, 1919 to the late C M Lowther Sr. and English Elizabeth Davis Lowther.
He was a building contractor who built many buildings on Parris Island and the Marine Corps Air Station. He built the water system in Ridgeland and ran a bus line to Savannah River plant from Jasper and Hampton counties. He was a member of Ridgeland Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a former Branch President. He was a former SLED agent. He was married in Logan, Utah in 1958 to Yvonne Woodard.
He is survived by his son, Troy Mitchell Lowther (Nancy) of Ridgeland, SC; three daughters, Cheryl S. Malphrus (C.E.) of Ridgeland, SC, Beth Yvonne Smith of Aiken, SC and J. Reneau Barker (Jeff) of Tillman, SC; one brother, James B. Lowther (Bobbie Jo) of Ridgeland; 21 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Yvonne Woodard Lowther, two sons, Charles M. Lowther III and Charles B. Lowther; one daughter, Patricia Ann L. Malphrus; three brothers, C.E. Lowther,Jack Lowther and William Lowther and two sisters, Juanita Kimmerlin and Susie Saxon.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, January 5, 2015 at Ridgeland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 til 8, Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland. Memorials may be made to the Connie Maxwell Children's Home in memory of Charles Mitchell Lowther Jr.
Graveside services at 11:00 am on Monday, January 5,2015 in Ridgeland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 4, 2015 from 6 til 8 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St. Ridgeland
