Charles “Charlie” E. Matynka III, 39 of Bluffton, SC, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 10th, 2025. He was born August 16th, 1985 to Charles E. Matynka II and Deborah Matynka.

Charlie was an honored and valued firefighter at the Glassboro Fire Department in Glassboro, NJ, the Highland Chemical facility in Pittman, NJ, and the Woolwich Fire Department in Swedesboro, NJ, for 5 years. Upon relocating to South Carolina, Charlie continued his devotion to public service, joining the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office in 2018. In his last years, he worked for Top Tint in Bluffton and took great pride in his meticulous work, while always striving for perfection.

Charlie was a man with an admirable work ethic and a strong commitment to helping others with every opportunity. His dedication to his friends and family was noticed by everyone. In his downtime, Charlie enjoyed NASCAR, woodworking, Netflix binging, and was always up for a chance to travel, especially to Las Vegas. The impression he left behind was one of adoration for the man that he was.

Charlie was predeceased by his beloved mother, Deborah. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Cara Matynka, 30, of Bluffton, and his step-daughter, Caroline Fludd, also of Bluffton. His love, devotion, and concern for his family were demonstrated every day. He also leaves behind many friends and extended family, including Louis and Allison Cavalluzzi, of Hilton Head, SC, and Mary Cavalluzzi, of Hardeeville, SC. He will be greatly missed by Frank, Elizabeth, and Gianna Cavalluzzi, of Columbia, SC. May his thoughtful heart and kindness be remembered by all who knew him.

Visiting hours will be from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, July 15th at Sauls Funeral Home in Bluffton, SC. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Charlie’s legacy may be sent to an account created for his step-daughter, whom he adored, Caroline. (C/O Cara Matynka, Bank of America – 053904483)
