​Charles Edward Miller

Charles Edward Miller, age 87, husband of Betty Ann Crosby Miller, passed away at NHC – Bluffton Healthcare on Friday, June 15, 2018. Charles was born in Grays, SC on September 16, 1930 to the late Benjamin Tillman and Gladys O’Quinn Miller. Charles and Betty were long time natives of the lowcountry, moving to Bluffton where they founded Root Hill Nursery.

Charles was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church; a US Army veteran; and he retired as an Inspector for the Hilton Head Public Service District 1. He was a member of the Hardeeville Masonic Lodge #348.

He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Lynn M. Jernigan. In addition to his wife of 64 years, he is survived by his granddaughters, Michele Wooten (Scott); Jennifer Knighten (Galen) and Angela Wilkes (Robin); great grandchildren, Scott Alan Wooten, Tess Wooten, Jake, Seth, Luke and ClaraBeth Wilkes, Jessica Wischerath and John Knighten; sisters, Joyce Woods (Henry, deceased); sister in law, Pansy Young (Bill, deceased) and brother in law, Calvin Crosby (Reba).

Charles’ family will receive friends Monday, June 18, 2018 beginning at 1:00 pm until the hour of the funeral service with Masonic Rites at 2:00 pm at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC. Burial will follow at Bluffton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Hardeeville Masonic Lodge in the name of Charles Edward Miller.
