Charles I. Palmer (Butch) passed away suddenly at his home in Melbourne, Florida on July 15, 2025. He was born on April 2, 1954, in Palatka, Florida, to Charles I. Palmer, Sr., and Vernelle Pye Palmer.
Butch, as he was known to friends and family, is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cheryl Jeanna Palmer, his mother, Vernelle Palmer, his children, Scott Palmer (wife Amy), Charles I. Palmer, III (aka David) (wife Melissa), daughter Suzanne Webster (Jason), two sisters, Nanette Wring and Penny Matthews (husband Ian), and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Butch accepted Christ as his savior in 1982 and was baptized at Middleburg First Baptist Church in Middleburg, Florida. We have the blessed assurance that we will meet him in Heaven.
He was a master mechanic who managed Amaco Transmissions of Melbourne for 25 years where he was known for his dedication to excellence and his integrity. Butch enjoyed boating, fishing, and traveling, but most of all spending time with his family and friends.
Everyone who knew him will always remember his quick and often caustic wit and his ability to turn anything into a funny story. He even performed stand-up comedy in Jacksonville, Florida in the 1980s and earned many laughs and standing ovations.
We will all miss him and he leaves a legacy of hard work and humor through his children and grandchildren.
