Charles Salvatore Pona

Charles S. Pona, age 83, beloved husband of the late Karen Pona, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 20th , 2023 in Bluffton, SC.

Born and raised in Bayonne, NJ, he was the son of the late Salvatore & Vincenza Pona. Chuck was a long time resident of Guilderland, NY.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Chuck was an employee of Adirondack Trailways for over 50 years where he drove over 3 Million Miles accident free. Chuck loved to make people smile, travel, cook, go crabbing, and most of all spend time with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband and father. To know Chuck was to love him. He possessed qualities that are so rare in this world such as humility, kindness, compassion, selflessness, loyalty, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Chuck will be very much missed by all of his family and friends.

Chuck is pre deceased by his wife, Karen Pona who was the love of his life, his parents Salvatore & Vicenza Pona, 4 brothers, Joseph Pona, James Pona, Michael Pona, and Salvatore Pona; 2 sisters Rose Lapinsky and Caroline Piazza. He is survived by his two sons Nicklas Pona  and Erica James, and Charles Pona; 2 Grandsons, Brenden & Chloe Mcauley, and Antonio Mcauley; A host of nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

Family and Friends are invited to attend a memorial service for Chuck at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery on 2/10/2023 at 1PM, followed by a celebration of Chuck life at The Italian American Community Center in Albany, NY from 3PM – 6PM.
