Charles Raymond SmithEarly Branch, SCCharles Raymond Smith, 85, died Sunday, September 23, 2007 in the Hampton County Regional Medical Center, Hampton, SC.He was born in Gilmania, SC on November 29, 1921. He was the son of the late Charles Hasty and Ola Tuten Smith. He was a retired machinist for the Marine Corps Recruit Depot; a member of the Gillisonville Baptist Church; and a US Army veteran of World War II who served in the European Theater. He loved his family and farming.He is survived by four sons, C. Hasty (Lisa) Smith Ray Smith and Michael Smith all of Grays, SC and B. Gene (Mary Ann) Smith of Walterboro, SC; two daughters, Wanda (Reese) Barton of Orangeburg, SC and Brenda (David) Barton of Coosawhatchie, SC; one sister, Margaret Cooler of Hardeeville, SC; 23 grandchildren ; 58 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at the Gillisonville Baptist Church, Gillisonville, SC with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 til 8 pm, Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W.
