Charmaine Lee (Cornell) Ruszkowski

Charmaine “Char” Betz Ruszkowski (née Cornell), 79, of Bluffton, South Carolina, died peacefully on July 2, 2023 surrounded by loved ones.  Char is survived by her beloved husband Joseph P. Ruszkowski, sons Greg Betz and Todd Betz (Jennifer), daughter Jennifer O’Gorman (George), grandchildren Logan, Sammy, Lucas and Scarlet.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Vance Betz.

Char was born in Philadelphia, PA on January 31, 1944, the daughter of Leroy and Emma Cornell.  During the course of her life she lived in many places including Alaska, Pennsylvania, Delaware and South Carolina.

She excelled in yoga, attending classes and serving as a yoga instructor at several studios.  Char enjoyed the music of Elvis Presley, Harley Davidson motorcycles and dancing.   If there was music playing, you could always find Char on the dance floor.  Char and Joe were also regular attendees at various United States Marine Corps events such as the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Ball and 8th and I reunions for those Marines who served at Marine Barracks, Washington, DC.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Caroline’s Cottage, 329 Friends Lane, Ridgeland, SC 29936.
