Christina "Chrissie" Shea

CHRISTINA “CHRISSIE” SHEA (nee Reynolds)

Christina, age 88, of Hilton Head, South Carolina, passed away on October 6, 2026. Born June 25, 1938, in Dunlavin, Co. Wicklow, Ireland to Matthew and Mae Reynolds. Christina grew up with her older sister Marie Staunton (who still lives in Ireland) and her father and stepmother, Bridget O’Toole.

Christina moved to the United States from Ireland in 1963 and worked for New York Hospital as a R.N. She married James “Jim” Shea in 1967, who predeceased her.

Christina and Jim moved to Hackettstown, NJ in 1971 where they raised their 3 children and where Christina worked at Hackettstown Community Hospital from 1973 – 1992.

Christina is survived by her son Matthew, son Timothy (and his wife Nadine), and her daughter Mary Fox (and her husband Kevin). She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Jimmy and Ryan Shea, and Caroline and Sean Fox.

After leaving New Jersey, she worked for various medical practices in family medicine in Columbia and Hilton Head, South Carolina. Christina was a parishioner of St. Francis by the Sea, Catholic Church, in Hilton Head and she spent many years volunteering at the St. Francis thrift shop.

Christina was happiest when cooking for her family and friends, and she treasured spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She loved drinking tea, eating shortbread cookies, walking on the beach, and she enjoyed traveling back to Ireland to visit with family and friends. Christina had an infectious laugh and quick wit. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
