Christopher “Chris” Don Wilkes – 63 – gained his wings on July 18th, 2025, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born in Savannah, GA, where he was a 1980 graduate of Johnson High School. Chris was a proud United States Navy Veteran, who served on the USS Forrestal.
Chris was a fun-loving, charismatic soul that loved his family and enjoyed making people laugh. Chris loved traveling and was an avid Star Trek fan. He never met a stranger and always had to ask, “Where you from?”. Chris had a great big smile and sparkling blue eyes that could melt your heart. Through every adversity he remained rich in spirit and steadfast to the core. Chris was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his devoted wife Sharon, Mother Linda McNeely Guadagno and Step-Father Tony Guadagno, Sister Vicki Caraway (John), Brother Michael Wilkes (Leigh), Step-Sister Ann-Marie Guadagno (Travis), Children Justin Wilkes (Kristy), Robbie Wilkes (Jessica), Thomas Wilkes (Taylor), DJ Wilkes (Madison), Tina Parrish (Ashley), Daniel Adams (Katie), his grandchildren, and nieces. He was predeceased by his father Don Wiley Wilkes, Brother Greg Evan Wilkes, Paternal Grandparents John Wiley Wilkes and Myrtice McGuirt, and Maternal Grandparents Otis and Hazel McNeely.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24th from 6pm to 8pm at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd, Bluffton, SC 29910. The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 25th at 11am at Sauls Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary St., Beaufort, SC 29902, at 1pm. The services will be officiated by Pastor David Laughner of Chapel by the Sea, Tybee Island, GA. The Pallbearers will be Justin Wilkes, Robbie Wilkes, DJ Wilkes, Ronnie Odum, Brent Jordan, and Scott Stapleton with Honorary Pallbearers Tom Love and Kevan Knowles.
In lieu of flowers the family ask for donations to be made in Chris’ honor to the National Diabetes Association or National Kidney Foundation.
