Christopher C. Young

Christopher C. Young, age 52, of Hilton Head Island, SC and formerly of Murray, KY died Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Hilton Head Hospital. Chris was born on October 29, 1965 in Memphis, TN, the son of Jessie B. and Kathleen V. Young. He was a 1984 graduate of Murray High School. He began his formal education at Murray State University where he pledged and was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He ultimately earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Georgia State University. Following his formal education he began his career working as a Controller with Radix International in Atlanta, GA. Upon moving to the Lowcountry he worked as a Mortgage Banker with South Carolina Bank & Trust in Hardeeville and most recently worked as a Property Manager with Coligny Plaza. Chris was a member of the Jasper County Chamber of Commerce. Outside of work and civic involvement he enjoyed being at the beach or on the water boating, fishing, or shrimping with family and friends. Chris was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen V. Young. He is survived by his children, Savannah Marie Young and Christopher Colin Young; their mother, Shawn R. Young; his father, Jessie B. Young; his siblings, Michael L. Young (Sherry), Jennifer E. Green (Timothy), and Beverly S. Harvey (Tommy); as well as his nieces and nephews, Jessica D. Cheney, Shannon D. Hunter, Jesse D. Winchester, Jason A. Green, Emily J. Green, Lucy K. Winchester, and Titus M. Green. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 17, 2018 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910. A memorial service and celebration of Chris’ life will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Sauls Funeral Home, Bluffton. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to South State Bank, payable to The Legacy Account which has been established for his children, Savannah and Colin.
