Clifton Pinkney Smith

Clifton Pinkney Smith, age 78 of Ridgeland passed away at his home on Thursday, March 7, 2019.

Pinkney was born in Ridgeland, SC on December 25, 1940 to the late Clifton L. Smith and Lottie Peeples Smith.

Pinkney was a General Motors certified automotive technician at Jasper Motors for many years until its closing. He continued as a technician until his retirement from Bill Fuller Chevrolet in Rincon, GA.  Pinkney was a member of Faith Baptist Church and a former member and Deacon of Euhaw Baptist Church.  He loved camping and fishing.

Pinkney is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Smith of Ridgeland; his daughter, Teresa S. Kleckley (Dan) of Ridgeland and Mary Ann Ortega (Raul) of Grays; his son, Rev. Bob Crosby (Gina) of Guyton, GA;  his grandchildren, Melissa Ingram (Michael),Danielle Kleckley (Chris), Kathryne Kleckley (Jimmy), L. Daniel Kleckley IV, Michelle Mendoza, Jessica Ortega and Krey Lee Lowther (Faye) and several great grandchildren. Pinkney was preceded in death by his first wife, Judith Ann Philips Smith and his sister, Doris Lucas.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 8, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 8:00pm at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Sauls Funeral Home with burial to follow in Ridgeland Cemetery.
