Corinne Lee Wiggins, 78, of Bluffton, SC passed away in her home on February 27 th after a long battle with illness surrounded by her husband, Harold Wiggins and two children.
Corinne was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 11, 1944, to parents Norman and Anna May Quartz, and was predeceased by her sister Joanne Mazzu and brother Russell Quartz. She is survived by her sister, Lorraine Masterson.
Together they have two children, Heather Wiggins McKinley and Christopher Thomas Wiggins and five grandchildren, Reagan Leighanne Thompson, Jillian Ansleigh Thompson, Jason Christopher Thompson, Madison Lee McKinley, and Brooklyn Mallory McKinley.
Corinne married the love of her life, Harold Roland Wiggins in 1967 and remained married for over 55 years. As newlyweds the couple moved to Old Bridge, NJ before they had their first child. After Heather was born the family moved to Twin Rivers in East Brunswick, NJ. In 1978, expecting their second child, Christopher, they moved to the Princeton Collection in Plainsboro, NJ and later Le Parc in West Windsor, NJ.
Corinne loved to travel and read Travel & Leisure Magazine where she first discovered Hilton Head Island. The family began vacationing on the island every summer and they eventually bought a condo in Palmetto Dunes. It was Corinne’s dream to live on Hilton Head but after discovering The Crescent in Bluffton, Corinne and Harold built their dream house where she lived for over 20 years. It was in her home, surrounded by loved ones where Corinne passed.
Corinne loved boating in the May River, sunbathing, cooking, traveling, entertaining, decorating for the holidays. Most of all, she loved her family fiercely and took the most pride in being a wife, mother and grandmother.
Diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer over ten years ago, Corinne defied the odds and lived life to the fullest.
A Memorial Service for Corinne is this Sunday, March 5 th at 1:30 pm Sauls Funeral Home 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910 followed by a Celebration of Life at Corinne’s favorite restaurant The Boat House -397 Squire Pope Road, Hilton Head, SC.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital (memorial ID 23376883).
