Cornelius Franklin Carroll, Jr., age 90, of Bluffton, SC died Saturday, July 16, 2016 at NHC-Bluffton. Mr. Carroll was born on April 16, 1926 in Linn, MO, the son of the late Cornelius F. Carroll, Sr. and Gertrude Mitchell Carroll. He was a graduate of Central College in Fayette, MO. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during WWII in the Pacific. He was an Eagle Scout and was the Waterfront Director at Philmont Scout Ranch in Colorado. He was a high school and college art teacher, inspiring many students who have become successful and productive members of society. He was an inventor, holding several archery patents. He invented the first replaceable broad head blade. He enjoyed coaching archery, fishing, hunting, and traveling the world in pursuit of his passion for bow hunting and archery. Mr. Carroll was preceded in death by his step-brothers, Lawrence and Oren Mitchell. He is survived by his wife, Lois M. Carroll; sons, Hank L. Carroll (Lisa) of Bluffton, SC and Cornelius F. Carroll, III of Weaverville, NC; grandchildren, Jason Carroll of Atlanta, GA, Emma Carroll of Bluffton, SC, and Zak, Zoe, and Zane Carroll, all of Weaverville, NC.
