Craig Robert Bartlett passed away February 23, 2017 in Hilton Head Island, SC at the age of 61. He was born November 12, 1955 in Erie, PA where he lived for 59 years. Craig was the second of three children, and the only son of Robert Kenneth and Rosalind Nichols Bartlett. Craig attended school in Erie, PA and graduated from McDowell High School in 1973. He worked in a variety of small manufacturing shops until he began his 20-year career with Hammermill Paper Company. Craig enjoyed his time working at Hammermill and always treasured his many friends and memories there. After working for Hammermill, Craig worked at PHB as a die cast operator until his retirement in 2011. Craig married his wife, Mary, on June 21, 1997 and upon their retirement they moved with their loyal dogs, Boo and Max to Hilton Head, SC. Mary and Craig spent 20 years together building a loving marriage where they enjoyed many travels and adventures and were involved in a variety of activities within the community. An avid motorcyclist, (even riding his motorcycle across the country, and back), and volleyball player, Craig was a tremendous lover of animals. Some of his many hobbies include weight lifting, camping, gardening, travel, music, whitewater rafting and any thrill-seeking activities. Throughout his adult-life Craig was a dedicated blood donor at the Erie Blood Bank. Craig was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary, of Hilton Head, sisters Laurie Stephenson, of Longmont, CO, and Jane Burrows (Carl Burrows), of Saegertown, PA; his son David Bartlett (children: Aiden and Ella) of Erie; his daughter Lainey Bartlett (children: Ziggy and Summer) of Lucedale, MS, stepson Joseph Mando of Cleveland, OH; his stepdaughter Gretchen Mando of Hilton Head; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Craig had a heart as big as Lake Erie, and saw the best in us all. He left us much too soon, and will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made in Craig’s name to Alzheimer’s Association and Hospice of the Lowcountry.
