Craig B. Fabel passed away at Costal Carolina Hospital in Hardeeville, S.C., on Sept.7, 2023. Craig was born September 18, 1946, to Byron H. Fabel and Leone M. Fabel (nee Pieschke) in Mpls., MN. He was raised in Mpls. and Burnsville, MN. Upon high school graduation, he attended and graduated from the University of Minnesota in Mpls.
Craig married his wife, Carol, on December 28,1968. Shortly after graduation, he was drafted, and he spent 21 months in the army, serving 9 months in Vietnam. Upon completing his military service, he attended graduate school at the University of N.D. He obtained a master's degree in biochemistry and later an M.D. Degree in 1977. He then completed a 3-year Family Practice residency in Bismarck. In 1980 he went into practice in Jamestown, N.D. He also practiced medicine in Fargo, N.D. and in Savannah, GA. In both places he was also a teacher in their residency programs.
Craig was a civil war buff and an exercise enthusiast. He faithfully exercised at least 3 times weekly for over 45 years. He also loved to travel. He and Carol enjoyed many road trips.
Craig is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol, his sister Diane Fabel Melbye (Marshall), 3 nieces and their families and many good friends and relatives.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
