Curtis Farrell

Curtis Allan “Kit” Farrell, 83, passed away surrounded by his family on July 19th, 2026, in his home in Bluffton, South Carolina. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, on March 8th, 1943, the first child of the late Harry and Charmian Farrell.

To most, he was simply, but dearly, known as “Grampy”.

Curtis was a standout athlete from Bethpage High School, on Long Island, NY, where he was taught by his father. He went on to play baseball at the Citadel, The Military College of S.C. in Charleston, and later earned degrees from Pace and Hofstra University. As a professional, he spent over 40 years as a respected banker with Chase Manhattan Bank and Manhattan Savings Bank and also served his country for 7 years in the U.S. Army Reserves, but it was outside of his suit and tie that he made the greatest impact on those around him.

He was a fiercely loyal friend, a champion for youth sports in Hauppauge, NY, where he raised his family, a gracious host and an even greater family man. He was an avid golfer, especially the 19th hole, a passionate fan of the NY Giants, Yankees and Rangers and impressed dance floors from weddings to father-daughter dances with his signature move, the “Jackie Gleason”.

Curtis is survived by his adoring wife of 60 years, Joyce Ann Farrell; his son Glenn Thomas Farrell (Aly) and daughter Karen Ann Huber (David); his only grandchild, Tiffany Merridith King (James) and his cherished great-grandson, Charleston Kit King, aka “Bubba”, as well as his siblings; Charmian Derrick, Caroline Hess, Clark Farrell (Robyn) and his many nieces and nephews. In addition to his own parents, he was preceded in death by his parents-n-law, Frank and Theresa Bavero, sister-in-law Rosalie Brual, and his brothers-in-law Bill Hess, Blas Brual and Frank Bavero.

He will always be remembered for his faith, kindness, captivating dance moves, unwavering integrity and love for his family.

His smile and generosity were gifts to everyone who knew him.
