Cynthia Compass Hawthorne Reid

Cynthia Compass Hawthorne Reid, 78, of Bluffton, SC passed away Sunday, June 27, 2021 at her home.

Cynthia was born June 4, 1943 in St. Catherine, Jamaica to the late Sidney Hawthorne and Vivian Williams. She retired from her career as a postal worker for the Jamaican Postal Service and went on to become the pastor of Mizpah Baptist Church in St. Catherine. She enjoyed working in her garden and cooking for her family. She was also wonderful in taking care of her church family.

Cynthia is survived by her sons, Kenneth Hinds of NY and Jason Reid of Jamaica; six daughters, Sheraine Reid-Ferguson of England, Maxine Reid Butterfield of Bermuda, Simone Reid Hodges of CA, Megan Reid Nelson of Bermuda, Recquel Reid Wright of FL, and Nickie Ann Cespedies of SC; 24 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Cynthia was preceded in death by her son, Lenworth Reid.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd, Bluffton. The Rev. Nickie Ann Cespedies is officiating.
