Daniel C. Miller, 81 of Bluffton, SC and formerly of Glenview, IL died peacefully on Saturday, May 31, 2014. Mr. Miller was born in Chicago, IL on February 10, 1933, the son of the late Nicholas J. Miller and Margaret Schaefer Miller. He was a graduate of Northwestern University where he earned a degree in chemical engineering. While at Northwestern he was active in the R.O.T.C. program which prepared him for his tenure in the United States Navy, of which he was a veteran. He retired from Culligan, where he worked for 35 years as a chemical engineer. While living in Glenview, IL, he was a member of St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church. Upon retirement, he moved to Sun City where he was a founding member of the Cribbage Club and was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. Mr. Miller is survived by his former wife, Claudette Sternberg of Fort Myers, FL; children, Martin "Marty" Miller (JoAnn) of Apex, NC, Danette Reisner (David) of Bartlett, IL, and David Miller (Kathryn) of Cincinnati, OH; sister, Jackie Meier of Highland Park, IL; grandchildren, Christine, Megan, Matthew, Natalie, David Robert, Catherine, David Daniel, and William. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 5, 2014 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Road, Bluffton, SC 29909. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Melanoma Foundation, AMF, 4150 Regents Park Row, Suite 300, La Jolla, CA 92037. www.melanomafoundation.org Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton is assisting the family with arrangements. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 5, 2014 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Road, Bluffton, SC 29909.
