Daniel Frederick Wheeler

Dr. Daniel F. Wheeler, age 67, of Hilton Head Island, SC, was called home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. Born on July 23, 1957, Dan was raised by loving, Christian parents in upstate New York. Dan dedicated his life to the Lord at a young age. He graduated from Wheaton College, and later from Case Western Reserve Dental School, where he met his loving wife, Carol, in North Royalton, OH. Settling in Hopewell Junction N.Y., Dan served the residents of the Hudson Valley with his family Dental Practice for over 27 years before retiring to Hilton Head Island, SC. He loved his patients and the people he worked with.

Dan’s passions in life included spending time with his family, studying the Bible and serving those without means. He enjoyed time outdoors, playing golf with his family and friends, traveling the Northeast and Low-Country for biking and kayaking trips with his family, spending time with his grandchildren, and many trips to Yankees Stadium. He was active in church throughout his life and most recently, at First Baptist Church of Hilton Head Island where he was a deacon, led Wednesday Bible Study and was blessed with a wonderful church family. His love for teaching the Bible led Dan to earn his Master of Arts in Theology. He was also active in the Christian Medical and Dental Society in New York, where he served the local community and accompanied a team providing dental care to people in Nicaragua.

Dan is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carol, his children, Katie Cal (Gerson) and Scott Wheeler (Jordyn), his grandchildren, Lucas, Emilia, Olivia and Nathan, his mother, Joan Wheeler, sister, Linda Fick (Tim), and many beloved brothers & sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Dan is preceded in death by his father, Earl Wheeler and his brother, David Wheeler.

While Dan will be missed dearly by his family and friends, we celebrate that he is with his Heavenly Father. The family will be holding a Celebration of Life Service at First Baptist Church of Hilton Head Island on Saturday September 21, 2024 at 3:00pm for all to attend.
