David Lloyd Haas

October 24, 1929 — July 4, 2017

David L. Haas, 87, of Bluffton, SC passed peacefully at home on July 4, 2017. He lived a full life, the last 26 years in Rose Hill. He was born in Elizabeth, NJ on October 24, 1929 son of Emma and Lloyd Haas. He graduated from Carnegie Tech with a BSME in 1951. At Tech he played ball, and worked the 4-12 shift at Carnegie Steel Co. He served in the US Navy in Japan with a top secret cryptographic clearance. He worked for Boeing for 35 years, owned Haas Reality in NJ, and started two Presbyterian Churches, one in Crofton Maryland, the other Lowcountry Presbyterian Church in Bluffton. He was part of the team that started Second Helping on HHI. He enjoyed tennis, golf, bridge (with Master points) and mowing his grass. He was a member of Church of the Palms where he was known as the “peach man”. He was predeceased by a son, is survived by his wife, Sharon, 5 children and spouses, 9 grandchildren and spouses, and 2 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, nephews and nieces. Following his request there will be no service. You are invited to pause and remember Dave at this time. Memorial gifts may be made to the Salvation Army or charity of your choice.
