David Clarence Malphrus

David Clarence Malphrus, 89, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014 in Hardeeville, SC. He was born on September 24, 1924 in Ridgeland, SC to the late Clarence Ruth Malphrus and Mary Ann Woods Malphrus. He was a farmer; Past President of SC Farm Bureau and one of the founding member of Farm Bureau of Jasper County; US Army Veteran of WWII European Theater; member, Ridgeland Baptist Church and a former repeat state champion Soybean grower. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing golf. He is survived by his son, Phillip W. Malphrus (Kathy) of Woodruff, SC; grandchildren, Phillip W. Malphrus, Jr. (Katie); Amanda M. Moore (Stuart); Rev. Patrick David Malphrus (Amanda); great grandchildren, Anna Kathryn Moore and Isabella Starling Malphrus. He was preceded in death by his wife VeLeria Gunnells Malphrus; son, David C. Malphrus, Jr. (Bogie); brothers, Joseph N. Malphrus and Clifford R. Malphrus and sister, Mary Ruth Keene Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, July 18, 2014 at the Ridgeland Baptist Church with the Rev. Patrick D. Malphrus officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgeland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm, Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams Ave., Ridgeland, SC.
