He was born in Mountain City, TN on October 1, 1925 to the late Joseph and Lettie Ann Phillippi. Mr. Phillippi was a retired US Marine Corps Staff Sergeant with 21 years of service. He was a decorated veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. Prior to joining the US Marines, he served in the US Army during WWII from 1942
