Dennis Amberger

Dennis Michael Amberger was born on August 13, 1954, the year of the horse, and passed away on February 18, 2026, also the year of the horse. He lived a life defined by family, loyalty, and purpose.

Preceded in death by his parents, Bernard J. and Bettie H. Amberger, Dennis leaves behind his beloved wife, Theresa Marie, with whom he shared nearly 45 years rooted in commitment and love. He was a proud father to his sons, Martin (Zoë) and Darren (Jess), and a devoted grandfather to Charlie and Vanessa, who affectionately knew him as “Old Guy.” He is also survived by his siblings, William (Bill), Fred, Susan, Carol, Jim, and John.

Born in Greencastle, Indiana and raised in Indianapolis, Dennis attended Holy Spirit School (‘68) and was a graduate of Scecina Memorial High School (‘72). He later studied business at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business (‘76).

Dennis will be remembered for his steady presence, loud noises, many lifelong friendships, deep love for his family, and unique golf swing.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, Feb. 27, at 10:30 AM, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Bluffton, South Carolina. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend. A celebration of life will take place this summer in Indianapolis, with details to be shared at a later date.
