Dennis L. Wright

Dennis Lester Wright, 84, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, just shy of his 85th birthday.

Born on April 8, 1941, Dennis (Denny) lived a full and meaningful life defined by dedication to his family, his work, and his community. He was the beloved husband of Melanie (Mel), with whom he shared over 60 wonderful years of marriage, years filled with love, laughter, and unwavering partnership.

A native of Hamilton, Ohio, Denny was preceded in death by his father, Lester, and mother, Fran. He is survived by his brother, Dean (Marysue). Denny was also preceded in death by his grandson, Brody, whose legacy continues to be a lasting inspiration for the extended Wright family and beyond.

Denny was a proud father to his four sons: Brian (Teri), Patrick (Araceli), Chris (Janice), and Shawn (Amy) - who carry forward his values of hard work, integrity, and humor. He was also a cherished “Paw Paw” to 12 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 6, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

Denny and Mel have a loyal and wide circle of friends – many of them lifelong ones (over 50 years). Most notably, who can forget the many “Big Chill” weekends over the years that Denny really looked forward to attending?

Denny was a true patriot, and he served his country honorably in the United States Air Force for four years, an experience that shaped his lifelong sense of discipline and service. Following his military service, Denny built a long and successful career, spending 35 years at Mosler, Inc., where he was respected for his craftsmanship and commitment. He later concluded his professional career at DSI, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and dedication.

Denny certainly did not slow down in retirement. In addition to countless rounds of golf, he was a skilled craftsman with a passion for woodworking, he became a leader in his local woodworker’s guild, sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with others. He also founded a custom funeral urn business that became both highly successful and widely admired for its quality and care. In true Denny fashion, he brought not only skill but also humor to his work - often joking that “people have been dying to get one” of his urns, a line that never failed to bring a smile.

Denny and Mel wanted to give a special shout-out to Renee from the Gentiva Hospice services as she was a heroine in his final days. Fantastic work that will never be forgotten.

Denny was one of kind and will be remembered for his steady presence, sharp wit with his ornery streak that kept everyone laughing. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the things he built, and the memories he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Services will be held at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church on April 20, 2026. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 AM. Denny will also be honored for his military service at Beaufort National Cemetery at 2:00 PM that same day.
