Derek John Gurney

April 12, 1939 — June 5, 2019

Derek John Gurney, age 80, passed away on June 5, 2019 in Bluffton, SC.

Derek was born in Rugby, England on April 12, 1939 to the late Arthur and Edith Gurney.

Derek is survived by his wife Sylvia, brother David (Ann) Gurney, step sisters Margaret Goddard and Kate Alston, son Jonathan (Tina) Gurney, daughter Lynn (Neil) Griffiths, step sons Michael (Dee Anna) Devaney and Neil Devaney, grandchildren Brian, Shane, Beth and Juliette.

In addition to his parents, Derek is preceded in death by his step son Christopher Devaney.

A memorial service will be held at Sauls Funeral Home Bluffton.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
