Dewitt Lynds Cooke,, €Œchip” J

DeWitt Lynds Cooke, Jr., "Chip", 76 of Bluffton passed away on June 5, 2014 at NHC Bluffton. He was born in Takoma Park, Maryland on November 12, 1937 to the late DeWitt and Virginia Cooke, Sr. He served in the U.S. Army and was retired from the National Security Agency where he worked for thirty-three years as an Integrated Logistics Manager. He spent a lot of his time growing up at Dares Beach in Prince Frederick, Maryland and loved the Chesapeake Bay and crabbing. Chip was an avid football fan of the Maryland Terrapins and the Washington Redskins. He was active with the Boy Scouts of America. He was an altar boy and was dedicated to his church, including the Church of the Cross since moving to Bluffton fifteen years ago. He enjoyed volunteering at their food bank. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Cooke of Bluffton; stepdaughters, Theresa Maguire of Bluffton, Eileen Butrick of Pomfret, MD, Colleen Hamilton and husband Donald of Waldorf, MD and stepson Bernard Maguire III and wife Gina of Mechanicsville, MD. Grandchildren Bradley Maguire, Shannon Butrick, Haley Butrick, Samantha Parks, Erica Franco, Gianna Maguire, Gillian Maguire, Brady Maguire, and Aiden Maguire, great-grandchildren Elijah Parks, Jimmy Parks, Donald Parks, Allison Franco, and sisters Judy McCready and husband Dan, Susan Bray, and nephews and nieces. A memorial service will be held at 2pm, Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Church of the Cross, Calhoun Street, Bluffton.
