Dexter L. Jones

Dexter L. Jones, 82, of Bluffton, SC and formerly of Northbrook, IL died Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Coastal Carolina Hospital. Mr. Jones was born in Ness City, KS on June 3, 1932. He graduated from Kansas State University and later earned his MBA through Roosevelt University in Chicago. He had a lengthy career in marketing, retiring from the Hezner Corporation as a Marketing Manager. He dearly loved the Providence Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder. He was also a member and Past Treasurer of the Low Country Men of the Church and the Annual Ethics Symposium. He enjoyed spending his leisure time golfing with the Fabulous Fore and his many other friends. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 25 years, Ellie Jones; daughter, Barbara Cooper; son, Dexter W. Jones; sister Ila Fritzler; step-children, Judy Stiteley, Steven Hausheer, Jennifer Heidemann and Bob Hausheer. Two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren. Dexter was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Louise Woodward Jones and his daughter, Julie Christine Jones. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Providence Presbyterian Church, 171 Cordillo Parkway, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Providence Presbyterian Church.
