Diana Elizabeth Davies

October 26, 1962 — January 6, 2016

Mrs. Diana Elizabeth Davies, 53, passed away from complications related to diabetes, on January 06, 2016, surrounded by her devoted husband of 32 years, Ben, their loving sons Bradley and Justin, her adoring brother John and his wife Trisha, her nephew Jason, her many friends and Savannah Hospice. Diana came from a prominent Italian international family. She was born in Khartoum, Sudan on October 26, 1962 to Giorgio Kattan and Vanda Perrotta Kattan, who preceded her in death. Her family played a major role during the industrial period of North Africa. They owned and operated a textile factory and ran several import/export businesses in Khartoum. Throughout their business career they developed and maintained extensive European, African, Japanese, South American, and US Government relationships. She was educated at the American International School in Khartoum and later at St. Stephens College in Broadstairs, Kent, England where she studied until graduation. She was fluent in five languages and was well rounded in international policy and political affairs. Diana spent the first 21 years of her married life living in the Middle East, North Africa, North Asia, Southeast Asia and Europe. She travelled to more than 80 countries in her lifetime. Diana thrived on meeting new people and learning as much about them as she could, making each person she came into contact with, feel special. She and her family moved to Bluffton, South Carolina in 2006 and the Low Country quickly became their home. Diana had a way of lighting up a room with laughter and love. She took pride in her family. She had the gift of creating a family home that welcomed others into its fold. She had a kind word for everyone and perpetually availed her time and energy to her family, her friends and volunteer services. Diana will be dearly missed by her family and friends, but her wonderful sense of humor, her quiet strength and her love will forever remain with us. She was a loving and cherished wife to Ben. She was a proud, devoted and adored mother to her two sons Bradley and Justin, the "loves of her life". She was a cherished sister to both John and Erika, and a beloved aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Diana is survived by her husband, Benjamin George Davies Jr., their two sons Bradley George Davies and Justin Lewis Davies, her brother John Kattan and sister Erika Perrotta Carrano, her Uncle Alfredo Kattan, her Aunt Yola Bodourian and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. We would like to give special thanks to the many wonderful and supportive doctors, nurses, and staff of St. Joseph Candler Hospital and Savannah Hospice, the pastoral staff, especially Father Matthew Ericksen and Sister Dona, and our caring neighbors, loving friends, and family. We have lost a beautiful and loving soul. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service, Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Sauls Funeral Home, Bluffton, SC. Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon, Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Sauls Funeral Home, Bluffton SC.
