Dianne Marie Acton

Dianne Marie Acton, 78, of Hilton Head Island, SC died peacefully with her family by her side on December 25, 2023 after a long journey with Alzheimer’s.

Born July 10, 1945, in Trenton, NJ, she was the daughter of Catherine and George Acton. She was one of seven children plus three bonus siblings that were added when her widowed mother married John Devenny.

Dianne was a strong, independent, and successful woman who epitomized the Helen Reddy lyrics, "I am woman hear me roar" and the saying, "where there's a will, there's a way." Professionally, Dianne owned her own contracts support business in Washington DC. Her entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to her work were evident throughout her career.

In 1989 she married the love of her life, Wilbur E. Mozingo, Jr. They enjoyed many adventurous experiences including traveling the world and spending a year throughout Europe before retiring to Hilton Head Island, SC. She loved entertaining and spending time with friends and family, including her 12 grandchildren.

Dianne lived life to the fullest enjoying every exciting adventure she possibly could including sky diving, hang gliding, parasailing, and floating through the sky in a hot air balloon and glider plane. She is now soaring above us with angel wings given to her as a gift from God on Christmas Day.

Dianne was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her beloved devoted husband Wil Mozingo; her children Shelly Hudson (Lee) of Hilton Head Island, SC and Holly Faett (Kirk) of Ashburn, VA; her bonus children Laura Byrnes (Jay) of Charlottesville, VA, Julie Savino (Ron) of Sterling, VA and Rich Mozingo (Tracy) of Hixson, TN; and her many grandchildren.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the love and dedication that her devoted caregivers and Compassus Hospice showed in their care.

Since Dianne always loved parties, a celebration of life will be held in her honor on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 1:00pm at the home of her daughter in Hilton Head.
