Dolores (Dee Dee) Stanislaski Koenig, 71, passed away peacefully at her home in Sun City on February 3, 2023 after a short illness with her husband Ted, her sisters Ellen and Mary, her brother Jimmy and brother-in-law John at her side. Dee Dee was born in Bronx NY on November 11, 1951 to the late James and Margaret O'Brien (nee Kerr). She had three sisters, Barbara O'Gorman, Ellen Mc Andris and Mary Grappone and two brothers, Jimmy and Michael O'Brien.
Dee Dee was a graduate of St. Helena's Grammar and High Schools in the Bronx. She lived her early years as a New York City resident, the majority of her life as a New Jersey Shore resident and in her retirement years as a resident in Florida and in 2013 moving to Bluffton South Carolina where she met her husband Ted.
Dee Dee was the sweetest, kindest, warmest person on earth. She is now bringing her great sense of humor to the Angels in Heaven. We know she is in the tender arms of the Lord with our late brother-in-law John Grappone and cousin Kenny Rourke who are welcoming her with giant hugs. Dee loved life and was a natural care giver. As her dear friend Aunt Mary said, "Dee was the one we all counted on. She took care of all of us." As her great niece Hannah wrote, "Aunt Dee Dee treated me, my brother, sister and cousins like her own grandchildren. Her generosity and fun-loving spirit made every Christmas spent together more meaningful." And the love of her life, her step grandson Frankie told her last week, "I think about you more than you know. I wish we could go back to the days of "Back to School" shopping with Aunt Mary and dinner on Dad's credit card. I love you and will always be with you."
Dee Dee and Ted enjoyed seven years together entertaining their many friends in Sun City and taking cruises with other family members. The highlight of her travels was last May when she, Ted, Ellen, John, Matthew and Connor traveled to Ireland to meet and visit the "Cousins." All of the Irish cousins immediately fell in love with her warm generous heart. From Ireland they traveled on a river cruise on the Rhine and Danube Rivers.
Ted feels blessed for having married a valiant woman.... (Sirach 26:1-4, 13-16).
Barbara, Ellen, Mary, Jimmy and Michael feel blessed to have had the best sister that God could have sent to us. Slainte' Dee! Rest in peace and love.
She was preceded in death by her late husband Frank Stanislaski. She is survived by her husband Ted, step sons Bobby Stanislaski and his wife Karin and Audie Koenig and his wife Christine, step daughter Katherine (Kat) Kaponer and her husband Richard, step grandson Frankie Stanislaski, step granddaughters Jackie and Emily Koenig, sisters Barbara O'Gorman, Ellen Mc Andris and her husband John, Mary Grappone, her brothers Jimmy O'Brien and his wife Judy and Michael O'Brien; nieces Cyndee Harrison and her husband Lee, Christine Doherty and her husband Paul, nephews John Mc Andris, Jr. and his wife Janet, Paul Denis and his husband Eddie Reiter, great nieces Jennifer Garrett, Hannah Doherty, Katelyn Mc Andris, and Tess Doherty, great nephews Jimmy Garrett and his wife Megan, Matthew and Connor Mc Andris, and Paul Doherty IV.
