Dominick E. Casella

Dominick E. Casella, age 86, of Bluffton, SC and formerly of Baldwin, NY died Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Coastal Carolina Medical Center. Mr. Casella was born on February 19, 1929 in Genoa, Italy, the son of the late Natale Casella and Quintana Lorenza Sereni Casella. After graduating high school in Italy he immigrated to the United States. For over 30 years, he worked as a Research Scientist at NYU Medical School. Concurrently, he worked as an Administrator with the Fashion Institute of Technology for over 40 years. After retiring from NYU he worked for the World Rehabilitation Fund as a Consultant. Mr. Casella was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Waytovich Casella; his son, David J. Casella; his daughter, Carla Parenti Eggleston; his son-in-law, David Pimpinella and his daughter in-law, Nancy Temple. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jean A. Constanson Parenti Casella. He is also survived by his children: Robert "Bob" Parenti, Kingston, NY; Richard "Rick" Parenti and his wife, Liz, Walkill, NY; Margaret "Casey" Casella Pimpinella, Owego, NY; Ronald "Ron" Parenti, Rosendale, NY; Dominick Casella, San Ramon, Ca; and Christopher "Christo" Parenti, Elka Park, NY. He is also survived by 9 grand-children and 4 great grand-children and many friends. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, bocce, woodworking, and gardening, but his greatest joy was his family. A special thank you is extended to his caregivers: Evelyn Gardner and Douglis Gabbet. The family will be receiving friends from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 1, 2015 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Road, Bluffton, SC 29909. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association. The family will be receiving friends from 4:00 â
