Don Billet

Don Billet, 84, of Hilton Head Island, SC died Tuesday, January 14, 2014. Mr. Billet was born in York, PA on May 26, 1929. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, retiring as Commander in 1979. After a 26 year career with the Civil Engineer Corps, U.S. Navy involving Public Works assignments and construction contract administration at 11 duty stations, Don embarked in a second career of engineering consulting work primarily in the water and sewer area. He was the Senior Design Engineer with Hussey, Gay, Bell and DeYoung having been with the firm for 25 years. He was the lead Engineer for the largest design project in the history of the company. He also was the lead Engineer for many municipal projects in the low country of South Carolina and Coastal Georgia. Mr. Billet was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Wayne Billet. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, JoeAnn Billet and his brother, Edward Billet. The family will be receiving friends from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 20, 2014 at Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, SC with full military honors.
